last week i went to my friend, Jayson Musson‘s solo art opening. t’was rad.
wore some Mara Hoffman, I Still Love You NYC daisy cuff, American Apparel soft clutch and my new sky high patterned wedges. super tall, super compy. and did i say super tall?
friday was the Mara Hoffman sample sale.
it was amazing, duh.
not only were the racks and racks of neon mayan print kaftans and breezy linnen jumpers a fraction of the retail price, Mara was actually at her own sale!
(and i was ready for that posibility with a set of 3 new I Still Love You NYC rings!)
Mara is such an inspiring woman, her designs are youthful and full of joy, but also graceful and elegant — very much like her personality. And even tho the sale was a mad house full of really gorgeous women grabbing clothes and trying on everything under the sun, it was definitely the most polite sample sale in the history of sample sales. Instead of squirreling away clothes that didn’t fit, girls were happily sharing and trading, helping strangers zip up a back, and quick with a complement; traits i can only associate back to the designer, who was there in the grit of it, helping run clothes, showing ladies how pieces work together, and even ringing up sales!
i grabbed a few amazing pieces including the Mexican blanket shorts (which i’ve been obsessing over for months thank you very much)
i am completely in LOVE with this collection by Natalia Grzybowski. Not since i first saw Mary Katrantzou have i been this moved by an entire collection of clothing. the engineered prints, sculptural silk and quirkily feminine designs are opulent and completely wearable. (for me anyways!)
“each piece is an art form within itself, complementing, without overtly sexualising the female form, using shapes that are simultaneously structured, yet soft, mimicking the form of a flower.”
