So we all know Brazil is where it’s at to get your shoes made, but now there is a new designer out of Brazil that is blowing my mind grapes up.
Andreia Chaves and the Invisible Shoe
i am dying. i am dead.
I. WAS. THRILLED.
she is my favorite. since forever. holy wow yes omg. she is magnificent. she is an icon. i have said forever, that when i grow up i will be her. my latest collection features a “young Iris”. i was just her on Halloween — not because she is scary or that i was being cheeky, but because my wardrobe allowed it quite easily without much planning. juuuust getting dressed in my normal way 😉
she is such an inspiration. i am so happy that she is being celebrated, i feel like it says something really positive about our culture right now that people like Iris, Anna Piaggi, — even Anna Dello Russo who is younger than the other ladies, but still “older” in fashion terms have such a prominent place in the style world. Not only are they older, they all share an incredibly creative and free-spirited approach to fashion.
long live eccentric women! may you bring us all on your colorful journey!
(if you want to see some of Iris Apfel’s spectacular world, take a look at the trailer for her upcoming documentary xx)
i am so pleased to share with you the latest collection from I Still Love You NYC for Spring Summer 2013
i hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
with love, Carrie
Saturday night Adam took me out on my birthday date.
it started at The McKittrick Hotel for
an underground and interactive play that takes place on 5 floors of an abandoned luxury hotel. all guests of the hotel are required to wear masks and are not allowed to speak as you wander through smokey rooms hung with dried flowers and animal pelts, a maze of branches lit dimly in blue light or hospital rooms filled with rows of bathtubs to name a just a few of the scenes. actors whirled in and out, in a blearily seductive dance with each other, never noticing all of us voyers watching their every move…
a quick beverage before dinner
hidden mixology bar employees only is tucked behind a fortune-teller
ok maybe another drink while we wait for our table to be ready at
a restaurant with no sign and blocked out windows, so unless you know what you’re looking at you wont even know what you’re missing.
i recommend the crispy duck breast
finishing the evening at the tucked away
Adam wears his wedding suit by Martin Greenfield paired with a purple gingham shirt. my uneven hem sheer button down is Pinkyotto worn with Moves giant wooden crystal ring, black stockings and stompers, and dusty coral leather soft clutch.
more on the soft clutch shortly, but first
my in-laws gave me an incredible book on Art Nouveau jewelry along with a fantastic card by artist Beryl Cook and Adam…. well Adam gave me the most phenomenal gift ever.
Apparently since my post on Yosef Perez, Adam has been corresponding with them. Not only did he get me a pair of their AMAZE-BALLS leggings* he showed them my line, and they love it! For me, this is quite possibly the most meaningful thing anyone could ever do for me. Having a line is such an intense and difficult venture, and so often, as is the case in most creative professions, there is doubt and fear. To have 2 letters from Yosef Perez wishing me not only a happy birthday but also the best for I Still Love You NYC is the most amazing gift i’ve ever gotten.
*leggings to arrive shortly due to the understandable delay of Tel-Aviv Fashion Week — photos of the Yosef Perez show to come soon!

question: what’s the best way to end this day?
answer: birthday pie
i am both saddened and excited about the closing of one of my favorite boutiques, Topstitch Boutique. sad for pretty obvious reasons, but excited because i know this is just the beginning of lots of new things to come from the amazingly talented and trend savvy ladies. Tina and Linda, two of my most favoritest people, two of the hugest reasons i even have my own line, have inspired me, focused me, pushed me and held me (depending what the circumstance called for) in ways that i will be eternally grateful.
if you are in the philly area this evening, please join me to celebrate the works that Brain Gravy Creative, Topstitch Boutique and I Still Love You have collaborated on over the last few years. Follow the journey through stop motion animated girls getting “tried on” by their clothes, see swirls of ladies working it down the runway of the Topstitch Boutique Holiday 2009 fashion show hosted by Rose Luardo and Guns Garcia. Witness the glamazons of I Still Love You’s 3 part trilogy (redundant, what?!) slithering across the screen. I am positive you will enjoy them, at least half us much as we enjoyed making them.
see you tonight
