just came out today, and very fun/moody/sexy. i love the direction designers are taking other than fashion shows to showcase a seasons offerings. with the video look book, and thru collaboration with other creative people – often times friends, designers are able to more fully realize a concept or inspiration for a season. other benefits of the video look book (besides the cost of production being a fraction of a fashion show,) designers are able to have their collections seen by a larger base and to create a connection with consumers at a more personal level. VBLs are moving editorial shoots that begin to tell a story; one that the designer wrote, and is telling you as a secret..
some other really great video look books:
Suno NYC Resort 2010 – USED TO have one up! 😦 it’s girls rollerskating in cute lil get ups being pulled by a truck! if anyone can find it on an internets let me know!)
Vanessa Bruno S/S 2010 featuring lou dillon – romantic, and beautifully in shambles
a fashion film starring Behati Prinsloo
and of course Gareth Pugh’s A/W 2009 – visually enthralling insect women; morbid and stunning. one of the first VLBs to be done by a recognized and sought after designer
and a very silly one : Rachel Antonoff Presents TOP THAT! featuring Alia Shawkat (Maeby from Arrested Development)
