Happy Thanksgiving!

i hope you’re having a wonderful holiday weekend!

we’re in Rhode Island for the weekend and the weather is just stunning.  we are going to walk down to the beach soon to smell some salty air and watch the waves crash on the rocks…  and we wont even need coats!

every year my mother and i cook Thanksgiving dinner for my whole family.  Adam helps by chopping and prepping, my father makes a cheesecake and everyone else shows up with some sort of appetizer and healthy appetites!

we only use the Meito gold encrusted china a few times a year, and i just adore it when we do.  i love to think about all the special meals that have been served on these dishes, how many family members and friends that have used these over the last 80+ years…

turkey, cranberry, mashed potatoes, yams and butternut squash, stuffing, string beans and braised brussel sprouts with bacon and a maple syrup glaze

pumpkin spice cheesecake — the perfect balance of creamy goodness, fall flavors and just the perfect amount of sweet

A Night of Secrets and a Day of Dreams

Saturday night Adam took me out on my birthday date.

it started at The McKittrick Hotel for

Sleep No More

an underground and interactive play that takes place on 5 floors of an abandoned luxury hotel.  all guests of the hotel are required to wear masks and are not allowed to speak as you wander through smokey rooms hung with dried flowers and animal pelts, a maze of branches lit dimly in blue light or hospital rooms filled with rows of bathtubs to name a just a few of the scenes.  actors whirled in and out, in a blearily seductive dance with each other, never noticing all of us voyers watching their every move…

a restaurant with no sign and blocked out windows, so unless you know what you’re looking at you wont even know what you’re missing.

my in-laws gave me an incredible book on Art Nouveau jewelry along with a fantastic card by artist Beryl Cook and Adam…. well Adam gave me the most phenomenal gift ever.

Apparently since my post on Yosef Perez, Adam has been corresponding with them.  Not only did he get me a pair of their AMAZE-BALLS leggings* he showed them my line, and they love it!  For me, this is quite possibly the most meaningful thing anyone could ever do for me.  Having a line is such an intense and difficult venture, and so often, as is the case in most creative professions, there is doubt and fear.  To have 2 letters from Yosef Perez wishing me not only a happy birthday but also the best for I Still Love You NYC is the most amazing gift i’ve ever gotten.
